Just over 6 years ago we pulled up our roots, packed our bags moved 170 miles to a small village in the quiet backwaters of tranquil North Norfolk and opened The Old Bakery B&B.
The time had come to kick start our lives again, something fresh, something challenging but most of all something that allowed us to be ourselves and if possible far from the madding crowd.
Six months later we opened our first B&B room, The Baker’s Room. Then over the next year we renovated & opened The Bakehouse (the Cottage) and finally The Miller’s Room, our second B&B room.
Along the way we met many ‘challenges’ and were greatly helped by both family and friends without whom this project would have failed. To the right is a picture of our son, Stephen, pressure hosing the patio and discovering for the first time the beautiful colours of the tiles. Sadly we have found this has to be at least an annual event, so it is not so much fun as the first time around.
Our Daughter, Claire, has researched and recorded an extensive history of The Old Bakery which we have available in each room & the cottage.
We’ll be telling our story through snippets on our blog over the coming months as well as highlighting what is happening in Norfolk, month by month and sharing pictures and information about some of our favourite places and the not so well known gems in the North Norfolk crown.
